Scott D. GibsonScott D. Gibson has been practicing law in Tucson for more than 25 years. Before forming Gibson, Nakamura & Decker with Chris Nakamura and Randall Decker in 1998, Scott was a partner and head of the bankruptcy section at O'Connor, Cavanagh, Killingsworth & Beshears (which has since disbanded) for 10 years and an associate at Streich, Lang, Weeks & Cardon (now merged with Quarles & Brady) for six years. Scott is a Tucson native and a 1982 graduate of Capital University Law School in Ohio, where the cold weather forced him to spend most of his time in the library, so he graduated cum laude. Scott earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Arizona in 1978. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, the Pima County Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute, and he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1996. Scott has decades of experience handling complex business dispute litigation, bankruptcies, and reorganizations for businesses of all sizes located in Arizona and across the United States. He is admitted to practice before Arizona courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and he has appeared on a limited basis in numerous federal district courts located in other states. Scott devotes many hours each year to serving low-income clients through the Volunteer Lawyers Program of Arizona and was honored by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education as one of the Top Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona for 2002. Scott has been a member of the Tucson Conquistadores (a nonprofit group that donates $1 million every year to community youth and amateur athletic programs) since 1996 and a member of the Tucson Parks Foundation since 1991. He currently serves on the board of directors of Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc., and the Interfaith Coalition for the Homeless. Before joining the firm, Kristen negotiated and structured licensing and marketing agreements for inc.com (an Internet company launched by Inc. magazine), edited high-tech market research at International Data Corporation, and edited news copy for The Journal News, a daily newspaper serving Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties in New York. Kristen is an Ohio native who received her J.D. in 1998 from Boston University School of Law and her M.S. in Mass Communication, with distinction, the same year from BU's College of Communication. Kristen earned her B.A. in Speech Communication and French from Muskingum College in 1990. She is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, the Pima County Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar, and the American Bar Association. Kristen's practice focuses on business formation, planning, sales, disputes, contract enforcement, and bankruptcy. She is admitted to practice before Arizona and Massachusetts courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and she has appeared on a limited basis in several federal district courts located in other states. Like Scott, Kristen devotes many hours each year to serving low-income clients. Kristen assists several local artists and nonprofit organizations on a pro bono basis and serves on the board of directors of the Tucson Pima Arts Council.
